Club Etiquette
- Juniors are expected to wear sports clothing when playing tennis. There is no requirement for players to wear tennis whites; any colour is acceptable.
- Tennis players may only wear sports shoes on the courts; no other shoe type should be worn.
- A member may bring a guest to the Club on two occasions only. A charge of £2.50 per guest should be paid via the honesty box that is attached to the court fencing by the main sports club house.
- Juniors and Parents: Tennis Etiquette
Court Etiquette
- Juniors should return tennis balls that stray onto the court from another court.
- It is important when Juniors walk to or from their court never to walk behind another court when the players on that court are in the middle of a point.
- Juniors should not shout and should not disturb other players.
Tournament Etiquette
- Juniors should warm up before each match for approx 5 minutes (ground strokes, volleys and serves)
- Parents and friends must not coach Junior players during matches.
- Parents and friends must not intervene in a match and should not make any line calls.
- When there is a disputed line call, the player on whose side the ball landed makes the call.
- If there is a genuine dispute on a point, the player should speak with the tournament organiser.
- With regard to line calls, don’t assume your opponent will say ‘let’s play it again’
- The tournament organiser will enter the results into the LTA web-site using players’ BTM numbers
- Consider wearing Devizes Tennis Club kit when playing (great chance to show people how good we are!)
